Lion Bulk Handling recently completed the upgrade of two KOVAKOยฎ ship-to-silo unloaders in Spain.ย The project focused on modernizing the control systems, replacing critical components and inspecting the condition of the equipment to restore reliable unloading performance.
The result: proven bulk handling equipment equipped for continued operation with a modern control platform.
Modernizing the control system
A key part of the project was the upgrade of the unloaders’ย operating system, PLC and HMI.
These upgrades provide the machines with a modern and reliable control platform while allowing operators to continue working with existing unloading equipment.
Several critical components, includingย hoses and valves, were also replaced as part of the modernization.
Technical inspection of the unloaders
Modernization is not only about replacing controls.
Lion Bulk Handling also inspected key parts of both machines, including:
- Unloading arms
- Vacuum blowers
- Compressors
- Hoses and valves
- Control and automation systems
By combining inspection with targeted upgrades, the condition of the complete unloading system could be assessed rather than focusing on individual components alone.
